Little Muffin came to us on June 22, 2018. She came with a sad story that fortunately ended well for everyone. Her mother Angelica (almost just a kitten herself and homeless) got a litter of 4 kittens that she managed to find "a home" in the wall of a house (in Vestfold). A kind young man observed that Angelica was harassed by other cats in the neighborhood and found out that she had also had kittens. He managed to find out where the kittens were and managed to catch Angelica and her babies and handed them over ot the Animal Protection in Tønsberg-Horten (a non kill shelter).

We lost our good and kind Lazy in April after 16 1/2 fine years together. And did not really think about new domestic cat just now. But in our home, there will always be a domestic cat together with our Abyssians. We were contacted by one from the Animal Protection who told the story of Little Muffin and her family and showed us pictures of the 4 little ones. They wondered if we may be could want one of these? The thought had been that our next domestic cat might come from the Animal Protection anyway :-) In May, we traveled to the Help center and looked at the little family. Mommy Angelica was a bit skeptical but with the help of some treats, I saw that she was not unfriendly, just a bit timid. I was allowed to touch and hold her kittens, which was about 8 weeks old now. Of the 4 kittens, it was: 1 Tricolor (same as mother), 2 gray / black (striped) and then little Muffin who was completely black. Our choice fell on little Muffin, and adoption papers were signed. Muffin and her family were to move out of the Help center and stay with a foster family for 4 weeks before moving to us.

So, finally the big day had come, and we traveled to Vestfold and the Animal Protection Center to pick her up. She was sooo small, and a little skeptical. The whole trip home she was completely quiet, not a sound. So the big question? How would our Abyssians cats react on this little one? But it turned out well :-) Emil and Ivo washed and chatted with her. Maylie and Luna were a bit hissy and skeptical. But no more than that. But we, the humans, on the other hand, were found creepy for Muffin. It was clear that she's had little body contact from people (despite many weeks in foster homes). We then knew that we had a "job" to do. But with a lot of "force cuddling" we hope and believe that she slowly but surely understands that we are not dangerous and she'll be a safe and nice little cat <3

Our old lazy was a "star" at exhibitions. Not sure if little Muffin will find cat exhibitions fun. Little Muffin will not "take" Lazy's place in our hearts, but perhaps make us miss Lazy with love. Muffin will be allowed to try out exhibitions and let's see if this is something she will enjoy.
